We
are videotaping the new songs and posting them on the Internet through
a site called Songpull.com.
Song Challenges 2008
If you are listed in our database as a songwriter, you should have
gotten the song challenges for 2008. (If you did not, then please
let David Hakan know by calling 816-363-1917.) There is no better
proven way to improve your songwriting than to write a challenge
song at least every month and play it before a listening audience.
For those who are really serious about songwriting. There are song
challenges from 1996 on our web site at www.SongwritersCircle.org.
That could keep you busy writing songs each week for two years before
you run out of song challenges. We showcase brand new songs written
in the last four weeks every third Friday at Westport Coffeehouse
starting right at 7 PM. Please come early on the third Friday even
if you did not write a challenge song. Any new song gets to premier
in the first set and we want to hear your older original songs as
well later in the evening. For our fans, there is a special excitement
in hearing a great song performed for the first time. Your feedback
often is what keeps these songs being performed and the songwriters
writing.
Audience Member Drive 2008
Joining Songwriters Circle is FREE. Our goal is to get more non-songwriters
coming out to Toto's Coffeehouse to listen to great original acoustic
music. This organization is for both songwriters and their fans.
We do like to have paid-up members of the Songwriters Circle. Membership
is just $20 for individuals and $30 for a family, and it runs from
Jan. 1 to Jan. 1. All of this money goes directly to supporting
songwriters and songwriting in the KC Metro area. There are special
advantages for songwriters if they are paid up members. Our new
Member Profile Page gives links to videos and songs from paid up
songwriters. Also, since CrossCurrents is our parent organization,
if you join the Circle you are automatically a member of CrossCurrents,
Willow, KC Folk Music, and all of the other councils and you can
get discounts on tickets at many of our bigger events. By the same
token, if you have paid dues to join any CrossCurrents council,
you are already a Circle member. Just let us know.
